Amaysim Energy penalty notices 2020 (explicit informed consent)

Amaysim Energy has paid $600,000 after we issued 30 penalty notices on 13 March 2020.

In these notices, we alleged that Amaysim Energy failed to obtain explicit informed consent before transferring customers to Amaysim Energy on 30 occasions between May 2018 and June 2018.

The Energy Retail Code requires energy retailers to obtain explicit informed consent before transferring a customer. Retailers must clearly, fully and adequately disclose all matters relevant to the customer's consent, including each specific purpose or use of that consent.
