More than half a million Victorian households and businesses accessed energy saving upgrades in 2022

The latest Victorian Energy Upgrades Performance Report shows over 530,000 Victorian households and businesses benefitted from energy efficient upgrades through the program in 2022, which is expected to save over 7.8 million tonnes of greenhouse gas emissions.

Failed gas retailer Weston Energy pays penalty after allegedly failing to meet energy efficiency liabilities

Former gas retailer Weston Energy Pty Ltd (Weston Energy) has paid a penalty of $53,600 after allegedly failing to surrender enough Victorian energy efficiency certificates to offset its legislative liability under the Victorian Energy Upgrades program in 2022.

Five energy retailers pay a combined $1 million in penalties after allegedly failing to meet energy efficiency liabilities

Five energy retailers have paid a combined total of almost $1 million in penalties for allegedly failing to meet legal obligations in place as part of the Victorian Energy Upgrades program.

VEU water heating and space heating/cooling activities requirements

We have completed the consultation process and as a result we have developed activity guidance and record-keeping requirements for the revised Victorian Energy Upgrades (VEU) water heating and space heating and cooling activities which came into effect on 31 May 2023.

The revised activities can be found in the following papers released by the Department of Energy, Environment and Climate Action (DEECA) in December 2022:

We released a consultation paper on Engage Victoria outlining our proposed approach and invited feedback on our proposed activity guidance, record-keeping requirements and proposed form changes for the proposed revised activities. 

Consultation closed on Monday 24 April 2023.

Green Target Australia loses accreditation under Victoria’s energy efficiency scheme

The Essential Services Commission has revoked the accreditation of Pan West Group Australia Pty Ltd, trading as Green Target Australia, under the Victorian Energy Upgrades program after it failed to comply with a condition placed on its accreditation.
