We will be updating the classification of sixteen refrigerated cabinet products in our Register of Products effective 7 May 2022. We have also released an updated activity guide for the refrigerated cabinet activity to clarify an issue raised by stakeholders.

Changes to the Register of Products and activity guide for refrigerated cabinets
We will be making changes in the product class assigned to the below sixteen refrigerated cabinet products (product category 32(21)) in the Register of Products for the VEU program effective from 7 May 2022 as per table below. This means that installations of these products which take place from 7 May 2022 will return certificates based on the updated class – which will mean fewer certificates being awarded as a result of the update.
These changes are required due to changes in the Greenhouse and Energy Minimum Standards (GEMS) register since we first listed these products in October 2021. The latest GEMS register has clarified the correct product class for the affected products.

Response to our stakeholder consultation
We received submissions from two stakeholders in response to our consultation seeking stakeholder feedback on the proposed transition timeframe for making above changes to the Register of Products. One submission was of the view that the proposed six week transition period was adequate and the second requested that the period be extended to 30 June 2022 to allow for supply chain issues.
On consideration of these submissions, we have decided to implement the proposed six week transition period as we are of the view that this position provides the right balance between ensuring the integrity of the program and providing appropriate relief for affected accredited providers.

Changes made to the Register of Products on 14 April 2022
As noted in the consultation, we made the following changes to the Register or Products earlier this month which we believe had minimal impact on stakeholders:
- We have removed the following product from the register as we believe they are not valid products:
- Brand: Polar Refrigeration; Model: Polar Freezer
- Brand: Polar Refrigeration; Model: Polar Refrigerator (class 14)
- We have updated the classification of the below products as the update results in the awarding of a higher number of certificates:
- Brand: Polar Refrigeration; Model: CK479-A
- Brand: Polar Refrigeration; Model: C591-A
Updated activity guide
We have released an updated activity guide for the refrigerated cabinet activity in response to a few stakeholder queries to clarify that the refrigerated cabinets can be installed in retail environments where they are used for display of foodstuff that are provided to the consumer but are not directly accessed by consumers.
