TM-21-19 Lighting calculator based on ANSI/IES TM-21-19 standard
28 October 2021
Release of a new calculator based on ANSI/IES TM-21-19
The updated standard ANSI/IES TM-21-19 was released in October 2019. To date, an IES TM-21 Calculator based on the updated standard has not been available for the lighting industry to project long term lumen maintenance of LED light sources.
We have now released a new TM-21 -19 calculator based on the revised standard to establish the lifetime of LED lamps. Apart from the pre-existing temperature data interpolation, this calculator incorporates two additional interpolation options for the applicants to consider estimating the maximum projected lifetime of the lighting products.
There are three options for interpolation with the new calculator:
- Temperature data interpolation
- Current data interpolation
- Simultaneous temperature and current interpolation
We have included user instructions on the first page of the calculator. Lighting product applicants should provide a copy of this new calculator to laboratories conducting their LM80-15 and ISTMT product tests.
There will be a twelve-month transition period for the applicants to submit applications using the new TM-21-19 calculator. Applicants can submit ISTMT reports based on either the new TM-21-19 method or the previous TM-21-11 method during the transition period.
From 1 November 2022, all lighting applicants must submit ISTMT reports based on the new TM-21-19 method using the new calculator tool.
