Updated product application guide for water heating products

In conjunction with the New South Wales’ Independent Pricing and Regulatory Tribunal (IPART), we have integrated the application process for residential heat pumps and solar hot water heater products across the Victorian Energy Upgrades (VEU) program and New South Wales’ Energy Savings Scheme (ESS).

With the commencement of these water heating activities in the Energy Savings Scheme on 1 April 2022, we released an updated product application guide and associated forms to reflect the integrated process. However, we have since discovered an error in the residential product application guide on the acceptance of the AS/NZS 4234:2021 standard in the VEU program in Victoria. We have updated the residential product application guide to correct that error to show that, for the VEU program only, we can only accept products tested to AS/NZS 4234:2008 and cannot accept AS/NZS 4234:2021. The updated information is available below. We are currently working with affected product applicants to make these changes. Please note that ESS requirements remain unchanged.

For residential heat pumps and solar hot water heater product applications:

You can submit applications for products modelled following AS/NZS 4234:2008 for the VEU or ESS programs.

You can submit applications for products modelled following AS/NZS 4234:2021 only for the ESS program.

Applicants can submit product applications through the VEU registry for use of these products under the Victorian Energy Upgrades program and New South Wales’ Energy Savings Scheme. We recommend stakeholders review the updated guides and forms before submitting applications for these products.
