Average household water bills in Victoria
Each year in June we confirm the prices to apply from 1 July for the state’s water businesses. For the 15 businesses providing urban water and sewerage services to residential customers, we publish estimates of household bills for water and sewerage.
Average water bills go up or down each year based on factors including:
- water usage
- changes in inflation
- how much the water business spends on maintaining infrastructure and services.
If you are experiencing difficulty in paying your water bill, speak to your water supplier about the range of payment support options available.

The following tables provide indicative average household bills for metropolitan and regional residential (owner occupier) customers from 1 July 2023 to 30 June 2024.
In 2023-24, depending on water usage, most customers across Victoria will pay more than they paid in 2022-23.
