Essential stories: German from the Victorian Energy Upgrades team
17 February 2023
I'm the Project Manager in the Policy Planning and Development team of the Victorian Energy Upgrades division at the commission.
That's a long title so I prefer to think of my role as shaping change. I spend my days at work shaping the regulations that make Victoria a more sustainable and desirable place to live.
Melbourne is home, but it's not my first home. I have a PhD in chemistry which has enabled me to work and live in some beautiful places like the United States, Switzerland (I still dream about those mountains!) and Sydney, right near Bondi Junction.
I am grateful that my role at the commission allows me to combine my scientific skills with my passion for sustainability to make important contributions to Victoria's legislative and physical environment while still providing me with the opportunity to experience Melbourne's world-class quality of life.
When I'm not shaping change, I'm usually thinking about football. I'm originally from Spain and FC Barcelona is one of the great loves of my life. Football is a great parallel to work - you need the right mix of people to succeed!

The Essential Services Commission is made up of a diverse range of people who bring something unique to our workplace. In 2023, our 'essential stories' series showcases some of our team members and why the work they do here is important to them. Follow us on LinkedIn for regular 'essential stories' updates.
We regulate participants and products in the Victorian Energy Upgrades (VEU) program to deliver energy efficiency improvements which are more affordable for consumers, and reduces their long term energy consumption.
