Essential stories: Jodie, strategic communication team member
26 April 2018
‘I've been passionate about food for a long time. I’m interested in how communities can make food production more ethical and sustainable, and how to promote the idea of growing food locally.
‘I'm an active member of the Braybrook Commons Community Garden. It gives me an opportunity to meet some great people I wouldn’t otherwise encounter, from one of Melbourne’s most culturally and socially diverse communities. I've gotten to know real people who have struggled with various challenges like unemployment and language barriers. It’s a great reminder of why the commission’s work to protect consumers is so important. It’s also challenged me to ensure that the way we communicate with Victorians is relevant and accessible to all.
‘Since joining the commission’s strategic communication team, my work has centred on helping the energy team communicate the outcomes of major regulatory reforms. This includes the introduction of new rules to help energy customers who are having difficulties paying their bills, changes to bills, and producing information that helps Victorian energy consumers find the best energy plan for them.’
