‘I inherited my love of wood from my dad, who was a violin maker. On the weekends, you’ll find me in the shed with either a nail gun or chisel in my hand. I am currently working on a folding cribbage board, designed with mountain ash and rare earth magnets. My two girls also enjoy making things by hand, mostly dress-making, so I now spend a lot of time on the sewing machine with them!
‘The energy industry is changing rapidly, with new participants, new technologies, new business models and changing consumer protection needs. The commission’s energy team has been re-thinking how it can regulate today and in the future. We’re working on projects that address fundamental changes, ranging from the impact of distributed generation to improved support for people experiencing payment difficulty.
‘The work of a regulator is about setting rules and making decisions outside the political system. Our mission is “to promote the long term interests of Victorian consumers”, and that is a good thing to think about over your cornflakes each morning.’
