Updated code of practice streamlines reporting obligations for electricity distributors
22 December 2022
The Essential Services Commission has amended the Electricity Distribution Code of Practice to streamline reporting obligations for Victorian electricity distributors.
Under the amendments, any actual or potential breaches of prescribed regulatory requirements must be reported to the commission. Electricity distributors must also submit an annual summary of all breaches.
A failure to comply with reporting deadlines could result in enforcement action, including a fine.
The changes also remove distributors’ reporting obligations from the Compliance and Performance Reporting Guideline and put them into the code as a schedule, to streamline and consolidate the reporting process.
Regulatory reporting is essential to ensure the commission receives accurate and timely information, particularly where breaches can impact on Victorian consumers.
The updated code will take effect from 1 May 2023.
