Further VEU regulatory and program changes commencing 10 June 2019

Water heating (activities 1 and 3)

• Changes to VEU specifications to:-
  • correct AEF figures for activity 1C, 1D, 1F and 3B
  • clarify zone 5 requirements for heat pump water heaters
  • clarify VEEC calculation inputs for activity 1D for transitioned products during the transition period (to 9 June 2020).

Space heating – Gas/LPG room heater (activity 9)

• Change to Register of Products to include a new checkbox field “Room Sealed Flue”

Weather sealing (activity 15)

• Changes to VEU specifications to amend to the lifetime input value (for purposes of calculating VEECs) for products with a warranty period of 5 years from 5 to 10.

Public lighting upgrade (activity 27)

• Change to Register of Products to:
  • Rename existing field “LCP(W)” to “LCP/Victorian Load (W)”
  • Addition of new field “Nominal device rating” – only applicable for AEMO approved products

Building based lighting upgrades (activity 34)

• Changes to VEU specifications to:
  • correct the reference to A3 of the Building Code of Australia (BCA)
  • include unlisted space type under table 34.12 (no change to current implementation regime)
• Amendment to clarify eligibility of new buildings for upgrades.

Non-building based lighting upgrades (activity 35)

• Update of standard reference to AS 2560.1:2018 following a revision to the standard.

Gas efficiency activities (activities 37 to 42)

• Changes to VEU specifications to:
  • clarify the ‘thermal efficiency’ terminology for total nominal gas consumption is referring to gross thermal efficiency (activities 37 and 38)
  • specify burner replacement (activity 41) must occur in the same boiler/heater
  • clarify nominal gas consumption value for VEEC calculations for activity 41.
